TranReg

Description

TranReg is a program written and designed to ease the task of indexing or transcribing parish. It runs under Windows operating systems and comes as a complete package and no other software such as a database is required. A primary design aim is to make it very easy use, so that users only have to concentrate on the registers themselves, rather than on using the computer.

TranReg holds the registers in database format which means that the information can be subsequently used in many different ways, but it also provides the ability to publish printed transcripts in the traditional manner.

Software

The most recent release of the software can be seen at http://sentinel.mcc.ac.uk/TranReg/.

TranReg consists of a Windows program and the Borland Database Engine (BDE). It is supplied as a zip file which should be saved on your hard disc and unzipped into a temporary directory. Then run the program setup.exe which you will find in there. This will install TranReg on your computer and when it is succesfully installed then you can delete the temporary directory. Then read the instruction manual. This is not included in the zip file and should be downloaded separately.

Instruction manual

The best decription of the program and the features it provides can be obtained by reading the instruction manual.
